Enhancing, Culturally Adapting, and Expanding Medically Tailored Meals Programs to Promote Cardiovascular Health Equity

Overview

This randomized controlled trial will investigate whether enhancing medically tailored meal (MTM) programs, with culturally relevant cardiovascular health promotion activities, would enhance their effectiveness in improving short-term healthy eating behaviors and clinical outcomes, as well as evaluate the impact of a novel MTM dosing approach on program effectiveness, engagement, and reach. This will be accomplished through a collaborative partnership with God's Love We Deliver, the only MTM non-profit organization addressing hunger, malnutrition, and chronic disease in New York City, and convener of the Food is Medicine Coalition, and will inform future approaches and advocacy efforts to address persistent cardiovascular health inequities among individuals living with food and nutrition insecurity and multiple cardiometabolic morbidities.
